Stop Torture Flights! - Action at airports in UK this Saturday 24th June PDF Print E-mail
"People kidnapped by the US are being shuttled around the world for interrogation, often to places where torture is practiced – and the US administration doesn’t deny it. This is called extraordinary rendition”

A report by Council of Europe rapporteur Dick Marty says European governments including Britain are complicit in these abuses.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will be debating the report on 27th June. Join our vigils to demand action to put a stop to the CIA’s torture flights. Peaceful vigils are planned around the UK and Ireland.



Events planned at:-

Birmingham:- For Birmingham and surrounding areas meet at Birmingham International Airport for 12:30 p.m. (Near the Cargo Airport). A convoy of cars will be leaving the MAC at Cannon Hill park(Canon Hill Park Location Click Here) at 11.30am for Birmingham Airport.  Alernatively, join the vigil outside the Cargo airport on the A45 linking Birmingham and Coventry for 12:30 p.m. (For Map of the Location Click Here). Trains run from Birmingham New St. Station to Birmingham International on a regular basis. There are regular trains from Coventry to Birmingham International as well.  There will also be a planning meeting for the vigil at the MAC cafe on Wednesday 21st June at 7.30pm in the cafe. This is a public meeting so feel free to come along!

Edinburgh:-
assemble Edinburgh airport 12.30pm on Saturday 24th June (people will be meeting at 12 noon at Waverley Bridge to catch the airport bus - help with fares available for unemployed, young people etc). Craig Murray, the former British ambassador to Uzbekistan and representatives of the Scottish Green Party the Scottish National Party and the Scottish Socialist Party will be speaking at the vigil. 07719822164 for more info.

Glasgow:- assemble Glasgow airport 12.30pm. Meet Buchanan Street bus station 11.30am (buses £5 return); please bring cars if you can. More info 07727050698.
