Bring the Residents Back - Petition the City Council
The Birmingham campaign are petitioning Birmingham City Council asking them to call on the British Government and Birmingham MPs to insist on the immediate release of British residents still held at Guantanamo along with a guarantee that they will be returned to Britain to join their families. Please sign the petition and come to the public meeting when the petitions will be handed over to councillors.
The Public meeting is organise for Thursday 16 November 2006 at 7.30 pm Carrs Lane Church Centre, Carrs Lane, Birmingham B4 7SX.
Detention Without Trial The men in Guantanamo being held without trial, are victims of the ‘war-on-terror’ in Iraq, Afghanistan and here in Britain. The government seems intent on introducing more and more draconian anti-terror laws, targeted at the Muslim community. Under the Terrorism Act 2001 several Muslim men were detained in top security prisons like Bellmarsh. They were subsequently released under control orders when their detention was ruled in breach of the Human Rights Act. Some have been detained again under new rules. We need your support in our campaign:
